Last night was just crazy! Around 6:00 I had decided to do a little clean up of our deck. Once I stepped outside, I saw mud flung everywhere from crazy kids. So, instead of letting the kids play with the sidewalk chalk in the front yard, I gathered them all up to do a major clean up of the back. I was totally impressed at how hard they worked and how little they complained. I think it was probably due to the look on my face when I was letting them know I knew about the mud and what I was expecting them to do about it. We finished by 7:00 and I had sprayed off the deck. Then came the rain. I mean not even 10 minutes after we finished. I took
Kyra to the church and the rest of the kids to
Braum's for ice cream. Aaron didn't want to
get out of the car because he didn't want to get wet, so Gabe gave him some sunglasses and told him now his eyes wont get wet. That's all he needed, he darted from the car into
Braum's. While we got our ice cream, the storm picked up and the tornado sirens were blowing. It was a pretty awesome sight standing in a building where the walls were all glass. I thought it better to get home than stay there, so we draped our napkins over our cones and ran for the car. We were soon safely home snuggled with our cones when Jeremy got home early from his classes. I guess when the sirens started, an alarm sounded in his school that said something like this: An emergency has been reported, go outside until further notice... WHAT!? Yeah, the emergency is a TORNADO WARNING! Well, the teachers canceled class, Jeremy came home, and we were happy to have him home early!
The storm calmed a little and we all went to bed but not for long, (at least for me) the thunder was so loud and the lightning was constant. It seriously looked like there was a fire flickering outside. When I did sleep, I had nightmares (yes, plural. ranging from insane tennis tournaments to
intruders after us). At one point in the night when I felt the storm had peaked (I swear there was hail slamming down outside) I jumped out of bed and about grabbed my kids from their beds, but Jeremy calmed me down and I decided I didn't want to scare my kids. It's just so hard to know when you should jump into the tub and cover yourself with a mattress you know?
LOL Anyway, I forced myself to go back to sleep by thinking; I'd rather die sleeping than die awake and terrified. THE END... Sort of. This morning has been raining like crazy. On Jeremy's way home from work he called to let me know he'd be late. He was having a hard time finding a way home around all the flooded streets and to add to it all a tire blew out in the car. Poor guy had to change a tire in the pouring rain. Perfect timing I say! So, once again we have a major swamp in our backyard. (WE NEED SOME SERIOUS AERATING DONE AND GOOD THICK GRASS BACK THERE!) Pray it doesn't get worse and creep into our house!!!

Wow! That is AWESOME! It has been raining here for several days. Floody like one day.
And I thought our yard was flooded! Let me know if you need us to come by with a boat and row you out!
On a serious note, let us know if you need any help.
